Sam Mitchell received his Bachelor of Arts in English and Art History from the University of North Carolina — Chapel Hill where he was a Morehead Scholar. He received his Masters of Architecture from the Graduate School of Design and Harvard University where he also served as a Teaching Fellow with the Faculty of Arts and Sciences.

Prior to the founding of Mitchell Studio, Sam was employed at Gilvarg/Epstein Design and Robert Orr & Associates in New Haven Connecticut. He has won Honor Awards from the Connecticut AIA for Design Excellence and for Architectural Drawing. He is a licensed architect in Connecticut and New York.
